every now and then, and only this time of year, i get a container of lye that shoots little jets of lye crystals in all directions -- static electricity, i guess.
so i followed someone's good idea of gently rubbing the surfaces of the lye-measuring container, lye/liquid mix container, and lye bottle itself.
success! no popping lye!
oops, failure! i think i rubbed too much. noticed after i'd mixed up my lye, water, silk and clay that a lump as hard as a rock had formed on the bottom. couldn't mix it in -- i might have tried a hammer, but that would have been bad for the kitchen
for those of you with the popping lye problem, the dryer sheets seem to work, but go gently and stir, stir, stir!
