I noticed a well-known brand of dog shampoo is now selling a formula that is supposed to remove muck from dog's coats after they've been rolling in unmentionable substances. I'm wondering if anyone had any ideas about a formula that would do this? I'm thinking high CO for cleansing, with eucalyptus and lavender EOs to balance the pong? Any thoughts?

I really think a high cleansing soap would be too cleansing & harsh for a dog's skin, which is much more sensitive than human skin.
Also, I always recommend not using eo's or fo's for animals because they're sense of smell is so much greater than our own, they can not tell you if the eo/fo is irritating to them & because animals lick themselves. So any eo's that are left on there fur would be ingested.

Which dog shampoo are you trying duplicate?

Hi Genny, it's this one...

ETA - I found a list of ingredients on another site:

Ingredients: Aqua, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamide DEA, Sodium Chloride, Alcohol Denat, Glycol Stearate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Glycerin, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Triclosan, Parfum, Citric Acid, Zinc Ricinoleate, Panthenol, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Tetrasodium EDTA, Tetrahydroxypropyl Ethylenediamine, Benzyl Alcohol, Magnesium Nitrate, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Magnesium Chloride, Methylisothiazolinone, CI 19140, CI 16035.

The only thing I've found (in the UK) which is worse than fox poo is badger poo...

Looks like a basic shampoo. I can't see anything in it that would make it a better cleaner than any other shampoo. It's very likely that the whole "Fox Poo" is just marketing appeal.

I hear you on the badger poo. We've got a dachshund & we live in Wisconsin (home of the Badgers) and our doxie seems to find badger poop every summer. We only use water on washing him and let him sit outside to air out.

But I live in Massachusetts! ;-)
