What color are you trying to achieve? Madder root can make some nice shades of light-dark pink. Rose clay produces a softer shade which is really nice.

The red half of this bar was a strong infusion of madder foot in oil, and quite a bit of Morrocan red clay. Less of either would be a dusty pink.

Paprika will make a nice pink. Use it as an infusion in warmed oil add paprika heat a few mins then put into a canning jar with a lid. Shake daily for about 2 weeks.

I also like rose clay because the color remains more stable over time than botanical colorants. At least, in my experience.

Rose clay, that is what I will use. I have been wanting to try out the clays; about how much would I use for 6 lb log?. I will use the pink in the salt too. When I get this done I will post the recipe, since I havent done one yet.

I would not add the rose clay to the salt. Your salt, hopefully you are using fine salt, will color with the rest of the soap. If you try mixing it with the salt you will have dry clay that is hard to mix in the oils. Just mix your colorant before adding the salt to your batter, the rest will take care of itself

If you used a lot, the lather will be colored. Not sure if it would stain a light colored wash cloth, you might have to test that. The few times I've used pink clay, I just used a little and it didn't affect the lather.

^^Definitely rose clay.

I have made a pink himalayan salt bar and just from the salt it was kind of a light pink all over with darker pink salt speckles.

I went with just using the pink Himalayan salt. The bars pink up the pink salt color nice. but when I did a phenol test there were specks of heavy lye. Not sure if this is to be?
