Here's a soap I made on May 7th using the 'Pull-Through' technique. I used an orange mesh bag from a bag of Cuties (mandarin oranges). I have tried this method in the past, with a huge fail the first time I tried it last year (same tool - Cuties bag) and a smaller mold. This time, it's still a pretty small mold, but bigger than last time and it came out way better than I expected. I actually thought this one was going to be a fail, but as it turns out I am really quite pleased with the design I got this time.
Here are two soaps from the same batch:
I call this one 'Pink Man Group' because of the male torso that I see when both soaps are placed side-by side.
Although I don't like the air bubbles, this soap really shows the mesh design when pulled through the different colors of soap batter.
The colors I used are all from Steph's Micas & More: peacock blue, radically reddish neon, & Cosmic Purple. I fragrance this soap with Dragon's blood because I like how it discolors to deep jewel colors and I am looking forward to see what this looks like after cure. So far, it hasn't changed much, which surprises me.
Also this soap is 70% hard oils, which is something I almost never do; all vegan friendly. SF set at 2%. Another thing I rarely do, I washed my bare hands with it when fairly new and it was not drying to my skin. Most of the time very young soaps are too harsh for me, so I don't even know why I did that at all.
I tried to replicate the design with two subsequent soaps and each was a huge fail. (Two different recipes.) I have yet to perfect this technique, if ever. It was fun, though.
