I have soft soft water - send some my way!

lol, ok. Where do you live ?

Oh, and found a way to test it in soft water, silly me, I have a rain-butt in the garden. Washed my hands today and had some surprising results.

The 100% coconut soap is creamier in soft water than in hard water. And the soap I found too creamy is just right and bubbly in rain water.

Send me a PM Carebear and I send some soap your way

kitn I've been selling for ages
.

Why the pretense ? You replied to a question I wrote elsewhere , that you are not quite ready to sell but getting close . You know a lot about soap making , there is no shame in not selling yet or ever .

I don't sell but I have noticed that several times when looking at handmade soaps in stores that they look very shunk and shriveled. I think becuas eI am in AZ and its VERY dry that the soaps dry out a lot here. Its very weird though to see a too big wrapper on a shrunken little soap. I don't sell though, but thought I would put that out there for those of you that do.

I test every batch I make and am always excited to feel the new soap and compare with previous batches. I have tried many different recipes and have come up with two (so far) that I like best for my base oils. All of my testers have been happy with any of my recipes, but they do prefer some scents better then others. I think blending EO's can be every bit as challenging as blending the base oils. Some of the scents fade, while others hold up well. Some smell great while others smell like medicine. Some change after the soap has curred, but do hold up. I love the EO's though and will continue blending until I find a number of scents that will work well for all of my soap blends.

I have attached a full page test sheet to each bar and hoping for honest feedback.

I'm getting ready (still a month or two down the road) to begin my testing and curious, if you don't mind sharing, what types of questions you ask on your sheet? I was planning on doing the same thing (glad to know other people do this as well) but am wondering if my questions are in line with what I really need to know.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I ask about color, scent and size first. This is what a potential customer notices first. I do ask if the color comes off on their face cloth. If scent is too strong, too weak, etc. Scent preferences. Then I ask about bubbly/creamy lather. Which they prefer. If their skin is drying or condtioned after using. If they feel clean enough. If the bar is slimey. Then I ask about any sensitivity or any adverse reaction. I mention all of the different oils, Fos, Eos or other additives that could cause sensitivity to some people. If they have sensitivity to any known products, do not use. I also put in how to make the soap last longer. Then my final question is - based on the soap's qualities, would they consider purchasing the soap. It is mostly yes or know or leave a comment. Nothing that would take forever to fill out.

Thanks for the input. What you ask is right along the same lines as what I had in mind with the exception of the color - I'm not currently using colors but am curious to know if the color of the soap is appealing - definitely something to think about.

Again, thank you.
