This recipe was a 360g of oils. 5% CO, 25% CO, 25% PO, 45% OO. Ran it through soapcalc superfatted 5%. Peppermint EO 11g. Oil temp 104/ lye 102 at mixing.
I added EO to oils before lye water, things progressed quite fast and I got a little anxious and got air bubbles when mixing and pouring. Used mica for colouring.
Now what are those gel like spots, are they gel phase or something else?
Am I not insulating enough, I use a cardboard shoebox and wrap a towel around it.
Am I soaping too cold, and it is cold outside where I am, living northern.

Those areas that look kind of translucent are what many referred to as 'glycerin rivers', even though they are not glycerin or rivers (it's just a name folks have given to them). It's normally a result of soap getting too hot when it goes through gel. Here are some of my own:

Other than being aesthetically unappealing, they are harmless.

Thanks HowieRoll, I like the Mica Swirls but discovered today that the glitter rubs off when you touch it. I read the Mica sits on top after the oils sink it but it didn't occur to me that it would come off on your skin so easily. Don't think I will do them anymore.
