Has anyone used Peak's Peppermint Kiss? My little boy wants me to make a brown/red swirl soap with this FO. I've searched and looked on the scent review board, but only found one reference. It didn't specify if it discolored or not.

Do chocolate scents normally discolor? Oh, and I don't have any way at the moment to do a red swirl, so it will be brown/green swirl.

I have Peppermint Kiss, but I haven't soaped it yet. I don't know if you have it on hand, but it's a nice chocolate & peppermint scent. I like it. I may try to do some scent tests today and if I do, I'll try to add that one to my list and let you know how it goes. As far as chocolates discoloring, I haven't found one that doesn't. If you want to do a green & brown swirl, just seperate out some of the batch and leave it unscented. Color that portion green and swirl w/ the scented which you could color with cocoa powder, oxides, micas or just hope it discolors naturally if you wanted. Hope this helps a little.

Bert had a chocolate mint (Andes Thin Mints) FO that seized. I loved it, though. Sigh.

Thanks for the replies! I think I will prepare for a discoloration, but I make leave a small sample uncolored so I can know for sure. I'll probably try to make the largest portion dark brown and then swirl an unscented portion w/green. That's what I did with Pink Sugar. I colored the unscented portion hot pink and it worked wonderfully.

Thanks again! If anyone else has any experience, let me know. I'll try to remember to post an update after I soap it.

Well..I forgot to leave a bit uncolored to see the actual discoloration. I've been using a new recipe with olive, palm, coconut, castor & shea. It seems to trace fairly quickly, but the fragrance oil did not cause any acceleration. I removed approx. 1/5 and colored with green oxide & TD (kept it unscented). The rest, I used 4 charcoal caps. It was a nice deep gray until I added the FO. As soon as the FO hit the soap, it was yellow, and turned the batter a really ugly green. :)

I did a pic of freshly poured. I will see how much the FO discolors and give an update. I'm hoping it will turn dark brown and leave the thin layer of green in the middle (and swirled on top). If not, it will be an ugly gray/green and green swirl.

Smells great OOB and in the soap. It smells like the chocolate mint candle at BBW they have right now. I used approx. 0.6 oz/ppo. It's not strong, but it works with the 1oz samples from Peak.

I made a small Test cup of Peak's Peppermint Kiss and it smells great! Just like it does OOB - Chocolate & Mint. As for discoloration, so far (it's been about 2 days) it's just a light tan but I'm guessing it will continue to darken over time. I'll try to keep you posted if it changes:)

Well, 3 days later it is still gray w/ green strip in center. The look is growing on me. I was hoping the combo of the gray with a brown discoloration would give me dark brown, but it doesn't seem to have changed the color (although with gray it's hard to tell).

It still smells great. My little boy keeps asking if it's ready yet. No...only 6 more weeks of asking. :) I think it would be nice as a candle also.
