Today I made a smaller (for me) batch of soap. Approx 2500 grams and it just fitted into two loaf flexi molds.
One of my sons has Psoriasis ,a skin condition ,so naturally I wanted to do a soap tp try and help.
Tanya suggested Pawpaw so I reseached on that and sure enough Pawpaw, and banana skins .So I ate the bananas and blended the skins with precooked Pawpaw.
I decided that this soap would not be perumed.
The Pawpaw and banana mixture blended into a light brown.
I had decided to mix some oats in the blender with a little soap then place that in the bottom of two loaf molds for a scrubby bit.
I was finished and about to clean up when I saw the jug of Pawpaw and bananas all blended on the bench.
I poured it all back into the bowl and mixed it altogether then back into those loaf molds.
The oils in it are Macadamia Nut ,palm kernal and sunflower .Plus aloe Vera my garden. Usual mountain rain water and lye.
Being as their is no colour swirl thing happen I wasn't in the least tempted to peep. I just wrapped it in glad wrap and a blanket sitting on a bread board then in a garbage bag and put it outside in covered rea. Our temperature was a bit lower today with showers and grey sky mostly.
Right now it is 9pm and about 21 degrees outside so I had better bring it in.
I feel like a good mummy now to my 36 year old.

I am just checking that. I can only bring to mind Dylans mellow yellow and the school kids theories on the benifits of smoking Banana Skins. No one actually tried it.
 So far I found this about lushes Banana soap and thought the melting part interesting:

Lush Quote: Product Description
With a delicious banana scent, this soap is disgracefully addictive; after you use it once you'll deliberately start getting your hands dirty just so you can sneak into the bathroom and wash with it. Fresh, organic bananas are a brilliant skin softener, yoghurt is good for the skin and labdanum resin smells rich and exotic and is good for mature skin and wrinkles. Now you see why it's so difficult to give up. Note: This product may melt and is NOT guaranteed to arrive solid during the summer months!

The african soap I looked into had the peels so I thought why not experiment.

There are some interesting notes here.
I will up load scratch and sniff photo shortly.
 A little while later. Still no facts but heres another soap claiming usefullness for that condition and I am wondering if I acted hastily eating the banana and not interning it with skin in soap.

Soap portraits

There's that soap looking just like Banana bread at the moment.
Still not located any more facts on the Banana skin mam.
It will be interesting to see how this soap looks in 4 weeks, maybe lighter with flecks?

more, more, more! :D

Pawpaw soap tested

For three days I have been testing out that pawpaw soap and am thrilled with it.
In my early days of soap making and not so long ago I inadvertantly got some small lye burns on my very sensitive hands. Those spots just wouldn't clear up.I had even tried a little cortison cream .All the rest of my skin was luxuiriously soft.3 days of using that soap and it has allmost cleared away altogether.
My son wont be getting all that soap after all.
It looks lighter than before .That is the only visual difference.Still the healthy looking specks and things in it.

Those look good enough to eat Mary. Nice soapies once again.

My hubby has psoriasis, to the extreme point where he had to go on steroids and uv light therapy. Didn't work, still has it. But he knows how to manage it a bit better than before. PawPaw soap sounds lovely. There is a pap paw ointment that I buy (brand name Lucas, I think) It is thick and greasy like vaseline but a more natural brown colour. Fabulous stuff. You can use it on cuts, burns, bites, grazes. I use it as eye cream every night . On the jar it states that paw paw has natural healing properties.

I do hope it helps

Chrissy thats aweful for your husband.
I know that my son finds it very demoralising and tries all sorts of things including reprograming his mind.
I am so hopeful about this soap.
I know where one bar is going too. It will be in my little thankyou parcel to you for those butterflies.
Mary

That is wonderful to hear Mary that this soap is so healing for you. I bet Daniel finds it excellent for his skin. If you are planning on selling any of it (now don't be greedy.... :p ) I will put my hand up to get some soon
