Probably should have waited till tomorrow morning, but ...

Thank you, everyone! It is firming up nicely, but the scent is getting sweeter and not as heady. I know very well it is not possible to get an absinthe trip from sniffing a bar or soap, but still a bit disappointing ...

Beautiful! Love your colors and the chunks. Is it an absinthe fragrance oil? I've used absinthe both from Daystar and Nature's Garden. Very different fragrances - the former far more herbal and closer to the real thing, the latter warm, earthy and deep. Can't ever decide whether I really like either of them but... Just curious if you've found a great absinthe.

Thank you! I actually used EOs. Straight peppermint for the "sugar cubes", 25g sweet fennel, 10g anise, 5g coriander and 5g peppermint for the "absinthe".

I am revealing my ignorance here, but is that collection of fragrances what makes up absinthe? I honestly don't know.

I used some soap with anise in it, and I'm loving that scent, though it was mixed with some other things.

The three main herbal ingredients in absinthe are wormwood, anise, and fennel. Since it is risky to use wormwood EO, I skip it. Coriander is sometimes used, and I have it on hand, so I added that to increase the complexity and make it more herbal. Peppermint is not normally used in absinthe, but I want to add some sweetness to the "sugar cubes". I like a super long cure, and after that, the menthol scent in the peppermint mellows out to a sweet scent. I guess I could also add a little bit lemon to mimic the lemon balm used in some Spanish versions. :)

Some interesting facts on absinthe, with the ingredients list in #7:

What did you mix anise with?

Thanks for that. I wasn't clear about the anise. I didn't use it myself. I bought some of Celine's Adam & Eve soap, and it has a fragrance oil with anise in it. It's called Vanilla Anise. Smells divine! I am not sure, but I think the FO she is using is a dupe of a Jo Malone fragrance called Vanilla & Anise. I can't seem to find the FO in any US stores, but I think I tracked down the UK store she bought it from.
