Can someone please tell me if I can use red palm oil. This is the only palm oil I could find (without searching the web). The lable says Amanfopong Palm Oil, I purchased it from an Oriental shop. I will be making CP and HP, also....Are there specific base recipes just for cp and hp---- or can you use any base recipe you like regardless of what kind of process.

I've never used this oil, but for any recipe, I would test it before via soapcalc (you can invent your recipe, but need to calculate the lye, and soapcalc will do it for you).

About the red palm oil, I've heard it's smells a bit too strong in soaps, but the smell wll fade away after a long cure.

ciao

I use red palm oil because I too found it at a market for cheap. All your soap will be some shade of orange, which NOW I find limiting, but it soaps in combination with other oils well

I havent use red palm, but if you have a health store around, chances are they have white palm, it is disguised as shortening, but if you look on label it is 100% palm. I would get some online, its great for soaping, others on here sont use it at all, you can use so many other oils, olive, coconut, canola, crisco. Good luck.

The lady at the health store told me they didnt have palm, but someone on here told me about it being in baking isle.
