Hi again,

I was wondering for textured tops soap ( which I usually make) what kind of packaging can I use. I don't sell yet, but hopefully someday I will. I have seen soap with just a parchment label, about 1 inch with company name on front, ingredients on the back portion and most of the soap was exposed. The beauty of the soap is being able to see the swirls inside the soap, and a beautiful textured top.

Can you shrink wrap just the middle portion of the soap, leaving it see-through, and the top exposed? Than put a label on the front that will include company name and ingredients .

Any suggestions would be appreciated. My soap would not fit in a soap box.

When I first started soaping and did a lot of the textured top thing, I used french fry bags to package my soap- I placed the soap inside, folded over the top and closed it off with a pretty ribbon. Of course, that meant that no one could see my pretty tops unless they undid the ribbon and opened the bag, but at least it enclosed my soap nicely without ruining my tops.

Nowadays I make soap with smooth, straight sides all around, which lend themselves to being able to be packaged in soap boxes if I wish, but I actually still use my french fry bags, because I bought a whole slew of them when I purchased them and I want to use them all up. I just use them in a different manner now. I cut them open and trim them to form a flat rectangle so I can wrap my soap form-fittingly in it 'present' style, and I use a decorative scrapbooking punch to punch a pretty scalloped hole through the front so people can smell the soap and see a little part of it.

Here are some cool youtube videos of different packaging ideas:

IrishLass :)

I bought shrink wrap soap bands from WSP. They're clear so my soap can be seen & I put my label on the back side of the wrapper. The ends stay partially opened so my CP soap can breathe & be smelled by my family & friends.

what about a nice wide piece of shear ribbon, along with double stick tape and or sticky label. when i dream of selling soap :) thats what my packaging looks like.
