Can someone tell me about the correct way to label my homemade creams, butters, lotions, scrubs, etc? Is there a process, are there rules and regulations? Can I just label it, or do I need permission do label it "Organic"? I would like to understand this as a best practice.

As an example, I used these ingredients to make Body Cream:

Cocoa Butter
Shea Butter
Olive Oil
Avocado Oil
Coconut Oil
Local Beeswax
Almond Oil
Babbasu Oil
Lavender Essential Oil

I chose not to label my finished soaps as "organic" simply because I don't ever want to be challenged on what that means, what percentages of non-organic ingredients is permissible, if anything can be organic after undergoing saponification, etc.

What I do is list out my raw ingredients like this:

Olive oil*, coconut oil*, palm oil**, avocado oil, sweet almond oil*, castor oil, lye, water

*certified organic
**certified organic and sustainably harvested

I am going to assume you are actually looking for the INCI on each of those names. Go to THIS site and you can look each of them up.
