Once apon a Time

I did it. I am so happy .I soaped out the old year with that big soap off Twighlight and it continues to get better.
Today I soaped in the new year with Once Apon A Time soap.
A versitile soap that will do for Valentines day as well as generally.
At the last minute I decided to use my Strawberry Champagne fragrance from Big Tree Supplies and I have no regrets . It is a subtle strawberry with champers riding on it well. I also decided at that last moment to add Rose petals and some more of that pink clay blended together.This makes the rose petals very fine but still visable .I like what I have read on the properties of rose petals I think it is asstringent and cleansing .The pink
I am all washed up but not the utensils but they can wait. I just have to ride out the after effects of that effort laying arround daydreaming of the next steps.kaolin clay is an exfoilate without drying. This should make it an allround gentle soap for on the face.
Soap was made from Shea Butter, my first,Olive,palm,coconut and macadamia nut oils plus some coconut cream.
Coloured mainly with pink clay mixed first in oil from the batch.
I kept about 25% white then poured that from a metre above the soap into a pot swirl .Maybe it just got lost in it.
It was poured into Unicorn,dragonfly, celtic , rain drop and heart molds.
Thats it ,now for the big wait.

I'm glad you used your unicorn moulds....they will look amazing methinks. Now you can put your feet up and rest a while....until the soap bug bites again

Blame it on the two reds I had last night before typing my recipe up for calculation from my note book. Yes two glass screamer thats me.)
Thankgoodness for documentation that showed up this straight away.


But lucky me .
I googled up what would happen and apart from the certainty of DOS at 33% lye discount , I found this page on making clear soap.

The colour is perfect a lovely light choccy pink so a sears soap effect should happen and I already have a generous supplier of cosmetic grade alcahol from a friends husbands distilling of homebrew.
Can I use the clear MP base I have for the glycerine.
I believe this will take two more stages but I should then have a first batch of fairly clear soap.
I kept back about 20% of the fragrance so can re-top up the perfume.
What do you think?

MP base contains added glycerine but it is not glycerine per se.....liquid vegetable glycerine is what you need and Max at escentials stocks it at a great price........tc :wink:

I also put one of my moblie phones through the wash today.Mind you I had a death wish on that one.

Yes and it shall be bigGer and better.
Bigger cause I will be ordering that glycerine that Tanya suggested today and that plus the alcahol it will take to make it a semi clear soap will increase the volume.I already have half the batch in my freezer so they will come out of the molds easier.

Soap making with out it's little challenges wouldn't be half the exciting journey it is.
