i just had the weirdest soaping experience! i was making a batch of my regular CP but i decided to soap at 1:1.

i also usually soap this FO cool, but today i forgot. i had my soap in the mold for not even 30 seconds when it volcanoed! i had enough time to make it from the counter to the sink before it was overflowing my mold. i really wanted to save the batch so i scooped everything back into my bowl (ruined my pretty swirls) added another bit of water to bring it up to a 33% solution and mixed with my mixer. the stick blender wasn't cutting it. i mixed for a few minutes and it got REALLY hot, then once it was mixed alright, i put it back into a new mold. the top looked like HP so i zap tested it (not even been soap for 10 minutes yet) and it didnt zap. at all.

so did it just HP itself in the bowl? it looked like HP when i was scooping it into the mold too. i put it in the oven at 170* to see if anything else happens and to kinda melt my scoopy plops into one another.

That's what happened to my coconut/neem and GM the other day Krissy, 'cepting I ddn't get a volcano. I reckon it HP'd itself in the pot too. The heat was just so intense. :(

Yikes! I had a seperation today....barely managed to save it, course, it's not done yet either :(

i just cut it. it is not what i wanted at all. :x it is pastel instead of vibrant and it definitely HP'd itself. it doesnt have any zap at all either in the cut bars. i do like the color i got, it looks almost vintage pink... i will try to post pics in a bit. i have to clean up for dinner...

thanks! the tops are rougher in person, they look like HP tops, not so pretty, but i am thinking that if i tell people they are "shabby chic" then it will look more intentional... lol

Wow, what a great save!! I haven't had a volcano yet but hopefully now I'll have the presence of mind to do what you did. THe pink in the picture looks very sweet and delicate- sorry it's not your vibrant pink, but what you got is attractive.

Those look great krissy! Would never know it was a saved explosion. And "Shabby Chic" seems like the perfect description. The color and texture seems to scream it! Well done....even if it wasn't what you were after. Be proud. You have super hero saving skills

thanks everyone. i got up this morning with fresh eyes and i am happier with the batch.
i am off to buy EO's and beeswax with my DD and later we will make lotion bars...
