I made a batch of my fav hot process soap last night, using my normal amount of FO....but noticed that the scent was not as strong today when I started to cut it?
the only difference is that I used a different blend of oils ( more Shea and cocobutter) in my recipe last night than I typically use. I recalculated the recipe, and used the correct amount of lye/water....so I found it odd that the scent was not very strong. The temp was the same as I typically use ( I don’t mix my FO until after the batch has cooled to below 160 degrees F).....the only thing I changed last night was reduction of coconut oil and palm kernel oil, and an increase of Shea and coco butters?
this led me to the question: do certain oils retain scents better? i had never really thought of oils retaining scents, but.....any thoughts?
