Hi Everyone!
I know that this might be a lot of personal preference but what oils & butters does everyone like to keep on hand for CP soaping or what did everyone start with? I currently have EVOO, coconut oil, jojoba oil, castor oil, shea butter, & cocoa butter. I've been reading The Soapmaker's Companion and would like to try my hand at making soap for fun sometime here in the next few weeks.

I like rice bran oil instead of olive oil and the new Crisco with palm. I always add coconut oil and Castor oil to my soap. Lard is another fat that makes a great addition to soap. I like shea butter or cocoa butter in my soaps also.

Keep it simple in the beginning. OO, PO, CO, maybe castor. You already have cocoa butter and shea. The new Crisco with palm is also easy to use.

Good luck and enjoy!

agreed, those are my 4 faves! although if I had to say oils that I ABSOLUTELY cannot live without, it would be olive and coconut.

The three basics are olive, coconut, palm, I also use a lot of palm kernal, then I like shea butter and a bunch of other oils. You definitely need some palm!
