I am planning to make an eggnog scented soap, and I thought about sprinkling just a touch of nutmeg on top. Will it irritate the skin? I guess I could sprinkle some brownish mica instead, if the nutmeg is a bad idea.

Thanks! I love the smell of nutmeg so much. I can't wait to make this one!

Several customers have asked me for nutmeg soap. One of them said it is supposed to lighten dark spots. Has anyone heard this before?

I've sprinkled the tops of my soaps with spices and never had a problem. It'll wash off very quickly but it adds a nice touch to the overall scent.

Soapsydaisy - I heard that about nutmeg also.

I do this too, esp for pumpkin soaps with pumpkin FOs. Adds a lovely, real spice scent.

Kazmi, I did a Google search for nutmeg soap but didn't find much. I wonder if the spice or the essential oil is supposed to lighten dark spots. I love Nutmeg so it might be a fun experiment.
