:) Hi everyone,
I want to say thanks to you all for such a great site. You are so friendly and helpful, I never would have got this far with you all.
I am sooo excited. I just made my first batch and it seems to be doing just fine.
I made the recipe from what oils I had, would love to know what you make of it, as I really dont know what I am doing. It is a pale yellow colour.
ok here goes...

Olive oil; 431g 47%
Coconut oil: 272g 30% =340 mml water
Grape seed; 137g 15% 126 lye
Castor oil; 45g 5%
Bees wax; 22g 2%

It didnt gel and it is setting up good.
Have no idea what it is going to turn out like ?
Do you think its soap or a shampoo bar or maybe even a shaving bar Really dont know :?

Did you leave no stone unturned

Well it all depends.

Did you really put a good effort in and get a heap of steam up like this?

Good you did?
The it shouldn't be too long untill it's all this,

Looks like a great recipe booboo!

The hardness rating is skewed because of the high olive content, but it will cure out beautifully!

Mary - I love that Picture! We really have come a long way, baby!

I agree with Deda, it should make a great all purpose soap bar.

You could use a similar recipe for shampoo bars by upping your castor to 10%, and you could leave the ingredients the same and make a nice shaving soap by adding a tablespoon of bentonite clay per pound of oils.

:) Thanks all, i really appreciate the support and tips. Pics are great too. You guys are the bees knees. I was worried it would either be too soft cause of the oils or too hard because of the bees wax. There's sooo much too learn, my hat is off to you all.Took photos and made notes.
Wanted to make more today, only, I am full of a cold and bad cough, In order for me to get the lye, I coaxed hubby to take the pick up out and had to abandoned it in the snow five miles from home and had to walk home.(Lye in hand)

Are you an addict?
Q) have you ever endangered yourself or others in order to make soap?

:) So Mike I think I shall be joining you in your twelve step program, after the next the batch, as always :)
