I would like to order a few colorants to try with my CP soap. What are a few fun or safe choices for me to try?

I am going to place an order at BB today. Thanks!

I would go with one (or more) of the BB sample packs. I have used the oxides and ultramarines one and they all perform great in CP soap. A little goes a long way (they are more potent than micas, start with 1/4 to 1/2 tsp per pound of soaping oils) and they really pop if you gel.

There is also a mica sample pack but I don't have personal experience with it. Anne Marie is great with her descriptions - if the color will mutate in CP soap, it's generally in the description.

The liquid lab colors are nice but not for swirls as they have a tendency to bleed or migrate.

Pretty much anything at BB is good quality. I'm new but I've read that the mica and pigment powders give a more rich truer quality color that wont bleed into others when swirled. I myself have not gotten to use these type yet. I'm brand new just made my first batch of cp soap this morning. It's really addicting. Please post what you end up going with and how it works out later, I'd love to see pics! Good luck have fun shopping

I use ultramarines and micas and sometimes a little of the oxides. A little goes a long way with most of them, but I find that I need to use a bit more when using UM violet, and especially UM Pink.

IrishLass :)

I use pretty much all oxides, ultramarines and micas too. A little goes a long way, they last forever! I always have titanium dioxide on hand too.
