Hello,
So I am completly new to this. Just gathering supplies to make my first batch now, waiting for them to arrive. I have a billion questions and am loving this forum. It seems like the possiablities are endless..
This is the basic recipe I plan to start with from SoapLove.
Palm oil – 8 oz
Coconut oil – 6 oz
Olive oil – 6 oz
Shea butter – 1 oz
Castor oil – 1 oz

One question I have is about additives. If I wanted a coffee scrub bar could I just use coffee instead of water and add some grounds at trace? Is it really that easy? Does using different liquids like coffee, tea or milk change anything?

Thanks everyone so much for any insight.
Bobbie

Welcome to the forum :)

You can add cold (make sure it's cold) coffee instead of water, it will smell horrendous when you mix it with the lye, but the smell goes away.
Adding coffee or tea doesn't change anything.
Milks can cause overheating due to the sugars, so be careful with that. You can also have curdling when mixing the lye with the milk. I freeze my milk until it's slushy and then slowly & gently sprinkle the lye over it while slowly stirring. During that process, the container is usually sitting in an ice bath in the sink.
