Hello. I just wanted to introduce my self. I just started making soap about 2 months ago. I love making it. My best friend has made it for years and I was buying it from her until she told me that I can make it myself. I have made two batches is far. I was surprised how easy it is to make. I am hoping that I can get some ideas and some help if I have questions about making soap.

Hello!

My first soap was a plain white 100% coconut oil bar I made because I wanted to make my own laundry soap. I don't know what happened after that. Somehow, that evolved into wanting to make something I could use myself, to scenting, to swirls and embeds and exotic oils from faraway lands and then *BANG*. Suddenly you're in deeper than you ever thought you'd be.

Yup. Once you get bit by the soap bug, there's just no going back. :D

My first batch was anti-bacterial and my second batch was peppermint. Thinking about making some kind of pumpkin or apple for my next batch. Any suggestions?

Welcome. I to am a newbie. Just started in July. Please do a search (Google, etc.) on why NOT to use anti-bacterial products.

Welcome! I started researching in June and made my first mistake, ah I mean batch, in July. I've made about 20 batches so far and for some strange reason people walk the other way when they see me now.....

Welcome to the world of soapmaking! Congratulations on your first batches. I am curious what you added to make your soap "anti-bacterial". I would assume you used EO's such as tea tree, lavender, neem oil, lemongrass etc. Just a note, keep in mind per FDA labeling you cannot call soap anti-bacterial, it is still just soap that latches on to dirt and germs washing them down the drain

I'm sorry craftymom0263 but I just had to comment on roseb's post - Thanks for the laugh!

Also, you should keep her reply in mind. It will explain later why people may start to run away when they see you. No offense intended by my comment. But I've experienced something similar and have had people assure me they have plenty of soap when I ask if they want more.
