Hello,

A friend of mine and I have decided to open a soap making business and we're not really sure where to start to do everything legally. Any information anyone can give us would be greatly appreciated.

Hi and welcome! Before you try to make a business of it, have you already learned how to make soap and tested recipes and the such? There’s a lot that goes into just that part.

I'm actively learning how to do that now, I just don't want to get too into it if it's not gonna come to something if that makes sense. It's more a matter I want to be prepared - not that I'm gonna register right away.

Welcome! It is a lot of work to create a business, and the soapmaking market is very saturated. Definitely do your homework for your current area to determine if it is financially feasible. We have some pretty good discussions here about soap businesses; you can use the Search bar at the top of the page to find them.

In the meantime, have fun making some soap! If nothing else, it’s a fun hobby and great creative outlet.
