Hi to all. I am Mustafa and i'm living in Izmir, Turkey. I just started to think about making soaps when my doctor says "you have sensitive skin", after i bought a special soap with a very high price (dead sea soap, don't remember the label). I'm planning to start as a hobby, and if i will success i may try to make it go further.
I hope i can take help and can help some people.

All best,
Mustafa

Hi Mustafa,

Welcome to the forum! Did the Dead Sea soap help your skin? If so, what are the ingredients in it? We may be able to help you to make something similar.

Welcome Mustafa! This place is a great way to meet people from all over the world without the flights, lol!!

Hoşgeldiniz. Eğer hassas ciltler için sabun ortaya çıkarsa tarifi paylaşın.

Mustafa -

I had to search for what the main ingredient was in this bar because I'd never heard of it before. Basically, it's a synthetic detergent with glycerin added to it. The laureth 4 is often used as an "emulsifier" to make a product more easily rinsed off. It may also help to add a little creaminess to the lather but I'm not positive about this result. So, this bar is very similar to some melt and pour bases.

Now I'm a person that doesn't view syndet bars as evil and chemical laden products. They tend to be much milder than some handmade soaps and there are people who can't use handmade soap. One of my BILs is this way. He has severe psoriasis and there is only one commercially made soap which he can use.

This is just my opinion but I would consider making the mildest soap which would probably be a castile and adding Dead Sea mud into it. I know I've seen some discussions about Dead Sea mud so I'll look for the info. I'll post the links or info when I find them.

Mustafa,

Welcome to the group. I think it is really good that we can share ideas with someone across the world.

I started making soap because of my skin condition. I had really bad eczema. I had to get medication to put on my arms and legs. Making my own soap has help me a lot! It has also help others in my family, as they say they do not need much or do not need it at all during the winter months.

I am definitely agree with oyu innerdiva73 :)

Fabius, if i can, i will.

Hazel. I got it. Two things force me to make a soap. One is, as i said, my skin problem (eczema) and I want to do some extra job. And i started to make soap last week with castile soap. I had some problems and yesterday i did second time. Old problems solved but new problems become :) I'm gonna share at appropriate place in the forum. By the way, I'm looking forward to your links or info if you can find. Thank you so much.

And jean1C. I have eczema problem also. If it is not a secret and if you can share the recipe of that soap, I will be very happy.

P.S. Sorry for my insufficient English :)

No secret, I really think it is the shea butter. So any recipe with Shea helps me. Actually, it doesn't really matter what the recipe has been, using my own soap has made it much easier for me during the winter. I still use lotion but not nearly as much or as often as I did. I, do not, however have to use the medication from the doctor.

Your English is better than some people who were born in the USA!

I agree with jean1C - your English is fine.

I haven't found a lot about Dead Sea Mud. I started a topic in the Soap Making Recipes & Tutorials section titled 'Dead Sea Mud Soap'. Here's the link. http://www.soapmakingforum.com/showthread.php?t=37242

I posted the topic there since other people might find it helpful or be able to add to it. I'm going to do some more research and see what else I can find on it.

I've done some little search on web, and people claim that shea butter really helps people with skin problems. As soon as i catch the basics of soap making i'll try to make recipes (I've seen some on web also). Thank you so much Jean1C.

Hazel, I'll check it as soon as possible and continue on the the topic you started, thank you.

And robtr31, I'm gonna check the link you shared, thank you very much.
