I just went to Target and saw thsi new line from Neutrogena. They have soap, lip balm and some face washes. I looked at the soap ingredients and I am a little puzzled. I don't see Sodium Hydroxide on there.

Here are the ingredients:
Sodium Palmate, Sodium Cocoate or Sodium Palm Kernelate, Water, Glycerin, Sodium Stearate, Sorbitol, Stearic Acid, Galactoarabinan, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Potassium Cocoate or Potassium Palm Kernelate, Potassium Palmate, Potassium Stearate, Pentasodium Pentetate, Tetrasodium Etidronate, Propylene Glycol

Am I missing something?

they're indicating saponified oils instead of listing lye.

not particularly clever. they don't make the soap directly - by saponifying the mix of oils. they purchase the sodium salts of fatty acids and combine them, along with glycerin and the other ingredients. (or they make their own and purify the salts).

we can't do it because that's not how we make our soaps. we list our ingredients.
