Need to buy new kitchen appliances any suggestions welcome

Hi there.

I have to buy new kitchen appliances , I am considering stainless , would I regret it. I am okay with white , just wanted a change.

Also need a front load washer , have an older Kenmore HE3 , want it to be more energy efficient.

I have Frigidaire Gallery now and they are just okay, the sxs fridge is really noisy.

Any suggestions as to good brands to buy. What do you have that you love and has been trouble free.

Oh my other dream come true!!!! New kitchen appliances!!! I would have a long list! (grew up and worked in the restaurant biz all my life).

We have SS and love it. Fridge is Kitchen Aid. Would not get our range that came with the house, GE Profile. Pain to keep clean and faulty lock mechanism, bad design. It is about 10 years old, though. They might have changed. For the stove, i would end up going high end/commercial, but that is just me. I have seen those DW that you can do large/small loads, or break it up somehow. I can't remember, but thought they were interesting. Can I live vicariously through you???

Sure you can live vicariously through me, it won't be that exciting though. We are moving ugh ! I was worried about stainless denting , that would drive me bonkers .I have to have a convection bake / roast feature on the stove though , it took me awhile to get through the learning curve , but now I love it .Bread rocks convection baked.

Your oven sounds awesome! Moving...ick! I don't see SS denting any more than anything else. My fridge seems more solid than the regular white or colored. The problem with my stove is it was supposed to be SS, but it is actually is brushed or something. It rusts like an SOB under the gas burners. It is a really poorly designed range, though.

I have the LG Steam washer & dryer, and LOVE IT. Although its now a bit to big for me to fill up a load, with the kids away at school most of the time.

All my kitchen appliances are Kitchen Aid stainless steel. I have the 2 drawer dishwasher and love it, as I can do smaller loads through out the day.

The only problem I find with stainless steel, is there hard to keep clean.

I really like the style of the kitchenaid's , have you had any repairs needed , are they quiet. I like the idea of a small load of dishes once a day .hmmm

We're finally, after 12 years in the house, renovating our crack-whore-tenement-apartment kitchen. So we have been researching appliances like crazy. We too are going with stainless. We chose based on energy efficiency, longevity/reliability, and design/features. They are:

Liebherr for the fridge (Fisher and Paykel was runner up). Should be an excellent fridge.

Gaggenau for the oven. Ridiculously expensive, but mr surf girl, the ex-chef, had particular criteria for the oven and this was the one he wanted.

We already have an Asko dishwasher (four or five years, now). Love, love, love it - really really quiet, great loading arrangement, and it cleans the effing dishes, unlike several other dishwashers with whom I've been acquainted. No crap left behind on the glasses, pots come clean. Water-efficient.

For your front-load washer, I also recommend Asko. We've had one for six-ish years, and I adore it. Also water-efficient.

I don't think I have seen Liebherr anywhere . Gaggeneau
is to die for , but my cooking skills cannot justify the cost .I will have to check out Asko for dishwasher , I am with you on the dishwasher , if everything is not spotless it makes me very cranky. Well it looks like more snow here today , maybe I will go check appliances out.

I have had to have my oven serviced twice now (under warantee), but I think its because of my electrical. It seems to conk out after a power failure. Although the stove top is gas, and works during power outages.

The dishwasher does a great job, it is not super quiet, like a Meile. But I would buy it again for the simply fact that I am on my own most of the time, and only need to use one drawer.

Good luck with your shopping. I LOVE buying appliances.

You probably all know this anyway, so forgive me if I am preaching to the converted, try using baby oil to keep stainless steel clean, a little wipe over and no fingermarks, lasts for a while too!

I can tell you we buy all of our appliances from our local Sears store. They have great service and extended warranties.
