Hi there,

I have another new recipe that I want to try next week.

Olive 40%
Palm 19%
Coconut 26%
Shea Butter 10%
Castor 5%

with 31% Lye Concentration and 7% superfat

The soap quality is:
Hardness 41
Cleansing 18
Condition 55
Bubbly 22
Creamy 27
Iodine 56
INS 155

What do you think?

thanks

On paper it looks good. Give it a try. It could be the recipe you've been working for. :D

I too do not usually SF over 5%.

I SF at 7% and have never had a problem, but I wouldn't go much more than that!

Have you ever tried using a percentage of Canola Oil in place of Olive Oil?

I haven't tried canola oil, have you? But I want to try Soybean oil, so I don't need to use too much Olive oil, I can save some $$.

Yeah, I was going to suggest possibly taking down the Olive Oil percent to 30% and adding Canola at 10%. I have read many times that Canola is pretty close to Olive, but be careful not to use too much (over 15%) because it can cause a soft bar (although I have never had this happen)

On Soybean oil... I have used up to %30 Soybean oil, and turned out with a pretty mild bar, soybean oils makes a nice white bar, good way to tone done olive oil a bit... except, useing too much soybean oil can cause soap to crumble slightly when cutting...

Haha... I went on and on...hope that helps some!

Hi Lane,

thanks for suggestion, I will check the price of canola oil this weekend.

You can buy Canola Oil at the store right next to Soybean oil, I think it costs about the same alos. :)
