Can someone please tell me how to measure the 5% discounted superfatted oil. When using the lye calculator it doesn't tell me how much superfatted oil to use in my recipe. Or perhaps I am not calculating properly. I really dont understand how to measure.

Are you using an online calc?

Superfatting is up to you as to how much you use. If your using one online just type in the amt. you want to use. I would suggest you not go over 8% though. And drop the water % down to at least 32%. The standard 38% the calcs use got me in trouble when I first started out!

Does this help?

On Soap calc you set the superfat at 5% or whatever you want it will give you the lye amount to get that SF. If you wish only certain oils to be in the SF then you would hold them out of the oils at first and add them at trace.

It is a said that this can keep those oils as the SF better but some say it makes no difference.
