Ive read online that using part of your name while naming your business is a bad idea(tell that to Martha Stewart!)
Buuuuuuut I dont really think that implies to handmade items.
Ive really struggled coming up with a name.
You want it to be memorable, unique, and yours..
The only thing I can come up with that I have found really sticks with people is my "nick name".
Its what people greet me with and even people who dont really know seem to come up with it off the top of their heads. They usually save my name under it and when they greet me its usually what they will use (but then they will use my first name for the remainder of time)
Everything "unique" Ive come up with is either taken, doesnt seem memorable, or didnt sit well with people.

When it comes to handmade items, what seems to resonate with customers at craft fairs, farmers markets, and etsy shops?

I've noticed a lot of people either using their name for their handmade business name, word(s) that define exactly what they sell, or their point/goal for starting the business in the first place.

For handmade items I would think using your name would be find so long as you can work in a keyword or descriptive term to help search engines and customers know why your business exists. I use my first & middle name for my business name, but the word 'soaps' is at the end of it.
