My soap smells rancid and has purple/pink streaks during curing

Hello, I made a soap where I added some coconut milk to the recipe. I subbed all my water for coconut milk. The soap has been curing for about 4 weeks now but when i broke one of the bars in half, there is purple/pink streaks and the inside smells rancid. I should probably toss that soap huh? How can I avoid this in the future? Soap has been curing in a visitor’s room in my house, lights out, temps between 65-72

Did you freeze the coconut milk first? It's not like other milks but its still possible for the heat from the chemical reaction to cause it to go bad. Thats why most people freeze it first or just add the powdered to the oils before adding the lye water.

Most likely your coconut milk went bad or, less likely, that rancid smell is due to the reaction between the Lye and the Milk.
