I think it was due to the fragrance I added, called "Grape". I think it smells like blue grapes - you know those ones that have a sour skin, where all the purple color is? They used to be my dear old Grandpa's favorite. I would watch him slurping down a huge bunch of 'em and get all drooly, so he'd offer me some, and each time....I'd make a face, cuz they really do taste sour. And the only way to eat them is to squeeze out the pulp, with seeds, into your mouth in one blob.

anyone know what I'm talking about ?

anyways, back to soap: So I made a 15-bar batch, and added quite a lot of purple oxide to the oils, which turned a lovely, deep, bluey-purple, just like those grapes I remember.

But once I added the fo (which was brown, so I should have been suspicious) the entire mixture turned a deep green.

SO now what should I call my 'blue grapes'? It really does smell like those purple grapes.

how about:

Blue grapes green with envy
or
Blue-tasting green grapes..
Green grapes that smell blue?

Aargh! all suggestions will be appreciated. I will post pics later tomorrow when I unmold

Hi Lindy, I haven't been posting much. Got back from a 10-day silent retreat and had the hardest time coming back to the daily grind, kwim?

A long drink of silence is a powerful thing.

The colors are changing by the hour. It's now 8:15PM and they look like this. I wonder what tomorrow will bring? I fear they may turn grey.

Woody, Muscadine grapes sound like the grapes you're talking about, we had them growing along our fenceline in New Zealand, you're right the best way to eat them was to squeeze the insides out and chuck the rest. I have a bottle or the FO sitting in front of me and it smells sooooo goood.

edited to put photo link of grapes.

Muscadine?.....I thought they were Concords.

anyhow, the blue soap is holding today, will wait a few more days to see if it fades before taking another pic.

I like the name "the grape escape" hehe, cuz the grape color almost did escape!
