Well, I finally experienced my first soap volcano today, and I'm trying to figure out the cause. I used both coconut milk and sweet orange essential oil for the first time. It was a CP soap. I posted the recipe below. I managed to save the batch and just HP it instead but I'd like to know if anyone has any insight. Thanks! :D

PS - I realize that my coconut oil % is kinda higher than the norm but I like to use 100% CO oil soap sometimes for my own personal use. I have pretty oily skin so I am thankfully unaffected by it's drying properties. ;)

What temperature were you soaping at? The only time I've experienced a soap eruption was when I soaped at too high a temperature. Especially if you're using something other than water (coconut milk) you need to soap at a low temp.

Hmmm.....I think I was soaping at too high a temperature. Also, I discounted the lye and mixed in the coconut milk at trace. :(

Yeah, I put in the orange oil and coconut milk at trace, and my water/lye mix was discounted. It must have just been too hot. :(
