I think it is perfect and you should just use it for the swap. :) You'll have a hard time getting a true red, so why end up making another batch that you still might not be happy with. Its a beautiful soap.

Wow! How did you you get such a straight, clean line between the colors? Mine always look more gloopy. (If that's a word.)

They are gorgeous!! The base looks like chocolate soap - my fave one to make! I agree with the others, you should use this one, it's very impressive! :)

Thank you everyone!! I was fairly excited when I unmolded I look up to you all and to hear your positive feedback is awesome :D

*The colouring is black oxide
*Its straight because I learnt the art of patience - I poored the black at barley trace and waited, and waited and waited added the white, and waited and waited and then the top.

The true test will be weather I can duplicate this another 2 times!! My mold only holds 8 bars and there are 17 in the group

Seriously, I just made soaps for my first two swaps and I was WAY too nervous. I was trying way too hard. I knew it was silly to stress but I did it anyhow and then wondered why after the fact. Do as I say and not as I do - relax and enjoy!

Of course you want to make a good impression. My advice is to not get overly fussy - if the quality of your ingredients is good and you are attentive to your process, it will be fine.

Here is a picture of some Alice soaps I made for my daughter to give to her cast mates. She was in a ballet version of Alice and was part of the Red Queen's army. These were not for a swap, just for a bunch of young adolescent girls. I did a basic raspberry vanilla colored with yellow dock root. I slapped on a cute label and voilá! The Jabberwocky was depicted as a Chinese style dragon; that soap was pomegranate scented.

How did you make your cigar bands? Very cute.

Busymakinsoap those are BEAUTIFUL!!!!! Very Alice in Wonderland to me too, but I can see why you'd be aiming for more of a red too. Love them!!!
