Can somebody check it for me, it's going to be the first soap for me. I want to make it in HP. Should I add more water for hot process?

Avocado Soap

4 oz. wt. avocado oil
2.5 oz wt. olive oil
2 oz. wt. coconut oil
1.5 oz. wt. palm oil
1.5 oz. wt. lye
4 oz. wt. distilled water
0.5 oz of essential oil

What is your super fat %? It looks like 0%. You need to super fat at least 5% to compensate for the differences in SAP values from oil to oil & supplier to supplier. That's to ensure you don't have a lye-heavy soap.

If it's your first time making soap, I don't advise a 10oz. oil batch. At 0% superfat (you want at least 5) it would only need 1.44 oz. lye. I would run the recipe thru soapcalc.net using the ounce figures, then switch it to go by percents and raise it to at least 16 ounces, 32 even better (small batches move fast, and if you are trying to be careful the first time you may feel a little rushed) I suggest using the 38% water as oil weight that soapcalc defaults with (which is just a little under the 4 ounces you have) When I change the percent numbers using your oils, I think 30% avocado, 25% olive, 25% coconut, 20% palm is what I would probably like, although I would love 5-10% shea or cocoa butter in it also (cocoa butter is sold in most cvs's, a one ounce stick in the lotion aisle and it should cost $1 - $1.50, so it's an easy way to test and see if you like before buying in bulk.

When you say hp, do you mean you are pouring into mold and inserting mold into oven, or cooking soap in a dish or crock-pot and then pouring into mold. I don't like using more than 38% water in cphp (crock pot hot process) because I find my soap warps as it dries if I use too much water.

Also if this is your first batch of soap it's better to get a couple batches under your belt before using colors or EO FO due to fact some can affect time it takes to trace.I do rtcp and then place in oven at 170 about 5 mins turn off oven leave till morning.

I would use full water and don't add any more- though after the cook I have added 1/2oz at times but never more than that.
But I have to agree that batch is really too small for HP, I would raise it to 16 at least but 32 is better.

i would use 32 oz of oil ,try some castor? it makes nice bubbles. Also i used fo and color my first time, not to worry with hp you are adding them after the cook, it wont affect anything. Turn you crock on high with oils in it, then add lye/water, doesnt matter what temps with hp, thats whats nice about it. Have fun.
