I made this on Sunday. it is creamsicle scented, and smells pretty good. It looks very creamy too... It is a little more orange than is picture shows (took with my blackberry...) I am happy with how it came out! Weird though, when I added the milk (with frozen chunks) to the almost cool lye water, it turned flourescent green and smelled of ammonia! Is that normal? Anyway, here is the soap...

Good job! They look great! :)

Yeah- that ammonia smell is pretty typical of milk soaps, but don't worry- it cures out. As for the flourescent green- that's pretty wild. I've had it turn bright orange before but not bright green. I wonder if anyone else has experienced green?

Thanks! Yup, flourescent green which morphed to flourescent yellow by the time I added it to the oils... Should I leave the GM out of the lye and add AFTER I combine the oils and the lye? Would that work?

I find it best to add the gm @ trace... less discoloration. I've gotten the orange, but never green (though I think I've heard it mentioned before)... weird.

Amen, on the perfect cut!! I was thinking the same thing! Very nice! How did you do it?

Absolutely! That's how I do all my GM soaps now. I add fresh or powdered GM to my oils either before adding the lye or just after. Works great!

I tried something - wondered if anyone else has - I have powdered GM - and I mixed it with the EO then added the mixture at trace. It blended better with the EO - was nice and smooth. It did come out a nice light tan color - but I had also added natural coloring from emporium - can't remember what color I used - would have to check my book - but I think it was the yellow color. It was the first time I mixed GM like that and first time I used the yellow color.

looks awesome, wow you make big batches. I only do 10 bar recipes, i like many different kinds and colors.

Thanks guys... Yes, I do make big batches. 6 lbs of oils.. I figure if I am going to go through the trouble of making the soap, I am going to make a lot of it!! I cut it using the plastic mitre box and a putty knife....nothing fancy. I am waiting a few days to bevel the edges, then I will take some real pictures with my real camera!

Those are so pretty! I just love the look of natural GM soaps, they're so inviting. And geez, I agree, you can cut some perfect soaps!

You guys are funny.... I was actually thinking as I was cutting that they were a little uneven! I guess that is the anal accountant in me!! I want to bevel them tonight.... I want to use the scraps in a batch of soap with the FO Orange Peel and leave the soap natural color with the orange shavings through out...
