Hello to you all, I've not been here for a long time so feeling super excited to back into soap making. Woop!
I'm trying to formulate a nice hard face bar. Did tones of research as we all know there is so much out there.

Attached my recipe below. I don't use any animal fats or palm oil managed to achieve 48-50 hardness but now I'm thinking is it going to be to hard ? any suggestions of things I could add or take away to have a lovely face bar but cheaper :)

R2 is with Avocado oil R1 is without

Additionally, I will add
Witch Hazel water instead of DW
Tea Tree EO
Lavender EO
Rosemary EO

Titanium Acid
CITRIC ACID ( not sure id needed ?)

Thank you so much, I'm looking forward to sharing my final results xxxx

I would drop the beeswax especially for facial use. Also, it will be extremely cleansing with both coconut and babassu in it. They are both cleansing. I would also up your castor to at least 5%. I don’t use add any oils to my recipes at less than 10%. 3% of avocado won’t make much of a difference personally.

Hi Violetta!

What kind of facial skin-type do you have? I ask because they are both on the higher end of the spectrum where cleansing power is concerned. If your facial skin tends toward the oily side, you may be just fine, but if it tends towards the dryer/sensitive side, you may find either one to be irritating/drying to your face. In that case, you'll need to drop the coconut oil and babassu oil down as Shunt advised.

IrishLass :)

Hello all,

Irish my skin is mixed, mainly normal with an oily forehead.

Thank you so much for all the help.
I offten add beewax just to harden the bar, had a lot of soft bar over the years as I don’t use any palm oil. Avocado oil was a bit last minute.

Dahlia : I never used babasu oil so wanted to try but it’s quite exp. Read that has similar properties to coconut but it feels much less greasy. Apparently it’s a good combination coconut and Babassu ... we will find out :)

What would be a good cleaning number ?

Thank you all so much !
