I got my order of Tradewinds Select Shades and was dying to try them out. I really wanted to try cupcakes, but the piping and thick trace seemed so intimidating.
I think they came out good! They look shiny because I sprayed the top with some alcohol to avoid ash..didn't know how exactly to cover them? I just put a towel underneath them, turned my oven onto 150 for a bit, turned it off and put them in. What do you all do with cupcakes as far as insulation/gel?

watch out when you put them in the oven, i did that once and the tops all melted down and turned into ugly lumps

Wow! Those look great! You did an excellent job on the piping and the pearls are a nice accent.

I've only done cupcakes once. I used an old wooden drawer and covered it with a towel to help keep the heat. I don't know if it really helped.

You could probably use a shoebox and cover it with a towel.

Krissy, that's what I was kind of afraid of, too. I did pull them out of the oven for a bit because it the rack seemed too warm. I stuck them back in before I left for work, so hopefully I won't have puddles when I go home.

Thanks, Hazel- a box is a very good idea. I had some extra 'icing' left, so I squeezed out some button-things on wax paper. Not sure what to do with them? Can I stick them on a different freshly poured batch?

Those turned out great. I'm always so jealous of those that are good with the piping. Outstanding!

I think you could stick them onto a freshly poured batch. I've seen people stick small balls and curls into batches. You'd just have to make sure they were stuck in really well; otherwise, they might fall off when you cut the loaf.

Very nice.

So Tradewinds is back in action?

Yes, I read somewhere that there were some health issues, but they're back up and running, colors only, no fragrances.

Ok, Hazel- will do :)

I don't gel mine, so just put them straight in the frig and take them out 4 - 5 hrs later and take them out of the mould and they just sit like that 'til they're cured.

O.M.G!!! This forum is evil! EVIL I tell ya'all! I wanna do cupcakes too now!

Seriously outstanding job on those cupcakes! Again, I'm in awe!!

And all the hints and tips, I don't think my head can handle the overload, haha.

Aww, thank you, girls...you're comments mean a lot to me
:)
Making soap may not be the best thing ever invented, but it's really good.
