So I found a cold process soap I wanted to try from soap queen on youtube. (How to Make Spin Swirl Soap) Got all my supplies together and made it today. Something went wrong. lol What was supposed to be thin trace ended up more like thick pudding. I thought I had followed the directions perfect, but guess I made a mistake somewhere. I am hoping it turns out ok. Will definitely be trying the zap test on it once I take it out of the mold. Will post pics when I get it cut to cure if it turns out.

Looks cool to me. I like the color combo and it appears as though you got some swirling action going. I found that when things get thick....it’s due to over blending with my stick blender. I think I’ve finally learned to pulse briefly and stir more by hand....until it reaches a thin trace. For me - once it reaches trace - it goes from thin to thick pretty quickly.

I tried to keep it easy on the blending. It started thickening when I put the micro powder and fragrance in. That is when I knew I had better go a bit faster before it turns to cement. lol Just kidding.

Generally thick batter is caused by over blending or FO. Can also be caused by too many hard oils and soaping too cool. Takes time and practice. But great first try. Congratulations!

I will try it again. Learned a lot about the dreaded lye. It wasn't as scary as I thought using it, but I understand all the warnings about it. Will wear a mask the next time I try it for I started coughing even in an open area. Hoping to cut my soap bars tomorrow. Will post pics of the creation, or disaster, when I get it cut.

This is my creation after the cut. It does smell wonderful. I used Clover and Aloe FO from BB. Had fun making this and will try something else soon. :)
