MP in CP?

Has anyone here tried adding a MP swirl in their CP soap? If so, do I need to use a low sweat clear base, or will any clear base work?

I've done it several times and yes, I'd suggest using a low sweat base to do it I've never tried it with anything other than LS, so I can't speak to how well that would work if you used regular M&P base.

I've used both LS and regular MP in my cp - the regular sweated as you'd expect, while the LS got quite crumbly/cracked/dry. Cutting was a unique challenge but not impossible. That being said, not something I've wanted to do again since although I know some have had good results

Odd results froggy, or maybe I've just been lucky! I've not had any problems with dry and crumbly LS when used in CP for swirls and cutting wasn't a problem either.

I've used regular clear base, and it was fine as a drop swirl; however, I live in a pretty dry climate. I'm not sure that you could do much other than a drop or layer with MP though... It acts goofy and congeals very quickly.

A drop swirl is exactly what I'm intending to try with the MP. I'm hoping to get the effect of glass, but was hesitant on type. I only have plain clear from BB. May email them and ask. Would the plain clear be ok for decorating tops? I worry about them melting or sweating. I've only made @ 7 batches of CP, but I've always insulated. Never tried CPOP, or refrigeration. if you do refrigerate, does the FO permeate to other things in your fridge?

Get low sweat. Trust me! Where I live it's extremely dry and when I use regular MP the drops sweat like crazy within the CP.

I wanted to show you a picture of my MP hearts and how much weird sweating they did with the regular M&P from Brambleberry. The white stuff feels like gel crystals. It shaves right off but will come back if I don't shrink wrap.

Forgive me, but what is SFIC? I'm a bit conflicted. I'm hearing both arguments for using low sweat or not. Yikes! What to do? I truly appreciate everyone's input. It is all invaluable. Maybe, I put this option on the shelf until I'm more experienced. I only have 7 or so CP batches under my belt. Maybe I'm running before walking..I did find a recipe from soap queen, and she didn't specify LS clear...what to do? What to do? I only have BB plain clear MP. I do have the LS white, but that won't give me effect I'm going for...if I do anything, I will report back. Thank you all!

SFIC is one of the companies who makes M&P bases. A number of the soaping vendors sell it. I personally prefer it sec to no propolyne glycol in the recipe. I have appreciated the soaps done by Handmade in Florida and it's on my list to try. Everything can be very overwhelming when you get started. So much information to learn. To be honest though, I think you might be overthinking this one. M&P is fully cured soap - adding a small amount proportionally to your CP batch for that extra something won't affect your CP soap in my opinion.

Cindy2428, I agree. However, there is conflicting opinions about low sweat vs plain clear soap. Interestingly, I had found a soap queen recipe that didn't specify low sweat, but I emailed them, and was told they haven't done anything like that? I just hate to waste materials. May try it soon, when I'm feeling braver.
