I was really wanting to do this with my kids for the holidays, I thought it would be really cool to make the bath bom cupcakes. But im not really big on buying pre-made products. I am familiar with making castile soaps, is there a specific recipe i need to use to make the MP soap?

I know you need to use alcohol or propylene glycol to make it. Kayla Fioravanti has a book called How to Make Melt & Pour Soap Base from Scratch. You might be able to find it at your local library. You could also google and probably find some written tutorials.

Youtube has some videos about making MP from scratch. I thought the one below appears good but I've never attempted it so I don't know how difficult it might be to make,. I'm sure there are other videos on youtube.

I've also watched soaping101's video on making translucent soap. I wondered why it couldn't be used for MP but maybe it's because she uses alcohol in her recipe. I don't know for sure. This is on my list of things to try but I just haven't gotten around to it.

Hazel, I have made the vegetarian recipe from the first link several times. It is easy to make and it does melt well. It is more translucent than transparent, but that doesn't bother me. I wanted something that would remelt easily. It is expensive to make, so I am not saving any money, but I know what goes into the soap I am using.

Thanks for the info on it. I'd like to try it but I'm not going to buy propylene glycol for an experiment. I have some vodka that might work as a substitute. I think I'll have to play around with this one.
