After 10 months I have discovered that although my internet sales and wholesale accounts have grown because I have been giving them the attention the deserve and need, the retail end just isn't strong enough to warrant a storefront. So I've decided to pull everything back into the house and work from home. This will let me go back to doing shows and the mall kiosk on weekends which is far more profitable - okay and more fun....

I am so excited I have 4 shows booked already; 3 in July including the BC Renasissance Festival which I did a couple of years ago and the Sandcastle Competition on Texada Island. I hope to pretty much fill the summer weekends with shows and then back into the mall again for the fall/winter/Christmas season.

At any rate, everyone here was so supportive last year when I was opening the store, I felt it only fair to let you know I'm shutting it down....

Cheers

I'm sorry to hear you're closing your storefront after you worked so hard to achieve it. However, you sound happy in your post about doing the kiosk and shows.

I wish you the best and I'm sure you'll be successful at anything you chose.

I just downsized my office to a space one third the size. I totally understand where you're at right now. It's a bittersweet feeling of relief versus disappointment. The relief is a far better feeling and outweighs the regret of staying in a too expensive space for far too long, four years in my case. So congrats on realizing way sooner than I did that you needed to make a change and then acting on it. There are good learning experiences to having a space and it really helped me recognize my priorities and how I really want to spend my time. Now I just have to figure out a way to get out of the office altogether because it is just suffocating. I'm happy for you and you're so lucky to be able to work exactly how you want. On to new things. :D

Hazel it is a time of renewal in many areas of my life and I am really, really excited to be able to start doing the shows again. I ordered my table covers today as well as more soap boxes in a style that I want to move towards at the shows....

PrairieCraft I struggled a bit but I had given myself a deadline date because I am this eternal optimist that I really had to decide if I wanted to risk anymore time in a storefront that isn't getting the traffic I need. Now the decision is made it just feels good and a relief like you said.

Thank you both...

Thanks Hazel! I also found my tent today at Walmart as well as the canvas sides which will protect my product from the elements..... Got notification that my skirts should be here this week.... Getting totally hyped.

Thank you NattyNoo - I just have to get through the physical move and then I get to start having fun again. The store was fun but the walk-in traffic was frustrating.... and the next chapter begins.....

I mean't to say your NEW direction Lindy. Re read my post & it sounded wrong.

Not a problem Nattynoo - I don't expect everyone to know the history of my business. There are many who think this something new I'm trying. The biggest difference is that this time the mall is going to list me as a merchant and allow me to put up real signs - woo hoo.....
