Peeps, I've learned recently that when masterbatching, I have to heat my oils higher than I've been doing (it's likely different soaping in cool November versus summer).

Here's my question. Last night as I was stirring my batter, I did see many small stearic spots so I was not surprised at the unmolding. If this happens again, is there something I can do prior to pouring? I'm wierded out thinking about lye & oils on a burner. Would a few minutes on a heating pad work?

Stearic spots have plagued me often. I found that heating my oils to at least 180F was the magic trick for no more stearic spots. Your recipe may not require that much heat, but mine sure does. I like to soap under 100F so it's a long wait!
