Monkey Farts Soap.jpg

this one was done hp with a spoon swirl in the mold. The green and orange didn't turn out quite the color I had envisioned, but it looks ok. TFL

I agree with Hazel, the colors go really well with that scent...good job!

{and it may just be me, but no matter how many times I hear the name of that FO, I just crack up..I have smelled it many times, {and I like it} but I just cannot bring myself to soap with it :lol:}

Nice colors and really good looking HP. Nice job.

And I'm with Jani. I always think, so no one could come up with a better name than that? Sorta like the "no poo" movement. LOL.

Thanks everyone! the colors are growing on me LOL! I really wanted a nice orange, and before molding it looked more peach, and now it looks kind of pinkish. And the green looks almost like a sea glass. I did do a full water content and added 1/4 tsp salt ppo to the lye water. That way the soap is a bit more "fluid" to work with, but doesn't take forever to harden up.

As far as the name, kids are the only ones who get a kick out of the name...all of the adults just look at you like you are weird. I may rename it. I do like the scent, but people might not appreciate Monkey Farts soap for Christmas.....unless they are a 9 yo boy LOL!

I love the colors, and if I could make HP look like that I would do HP. It looks like you were able to pour the HP.

Great looking HP! It gives me hope for working with colors down my future HP soaping road.

Thanks so much for the compliments! I've been making soap for a long time....I'd say about 17 yrs now. The first couple of years were cp, and then hp mostly after that, so I guess you can say I've had a bit of practice LOL!

There are a few different ways to get the hp more fluid without having to wait forever for it to harden up.
1. with a full water content, use a brine solution (take out some of the water, heat the water and dissolve some salt it. Usual usage is 1/4-1/2 tsp ppo. Cool it then add it back in and add your lye
2. with full water content use sodium lactate (I am not a big fan of SL...it does work as far as fluidity and hardness but I find it can diminish the scent, also it gave my dd's a rash) I have not used SL in a very long time I couldn't tell you the usage rates.
3. Yogurt when soaped forms sodium lactate. I usually freeze it first to help keep the color a little lighter. I do a 50% lye solution, then add enough yogurt to make it equal to a 28% lye concentration. The yogurt is stick blended into the oils before the lye is added. This will turn a light tan color so be aware and choose your fo's /eo's accordingly. hope this helps
