Once I figure out how to put that thing down underneath my name (where people have little sayings) I shall put the following

ALWAYS RUN A RECIPE THROUGH A LYE CALCULATOR

I am also going to look at changing my standard recipe from Sunflower oil to Canola Oil (and the vegans who will definitely winge will just have to put up with it or go outside and rub themselves down with cut grass and dew - joke)
mmmmmmmmmmm - have me mulling over a really good - cheap - basic oil ingredient recipe that I dont have to wait for the factories to open to get it.
The sunflower oil and the shelf life comments had me researching and got me thinking.

I think you need to be a supporting member to get those thingies under your name but I'm not sure which kind of supporting member or if it's all of them lol

Or it could be just staff?

Anyways.. I like rice bran too :D

You just reminded me.. I've been saving up for the membership, figured it's the least I can do for all the help I've gotten from this forum. I have to check on going about that.

Nope... you just have to go to your profile and click on Signature. You can put in whatever your heart desires (within reason, of course).

Wait, why don't vegans like canola? I thought all those yellow fields were plants, not the Canolabeast....

The process of extracting the oil isn’t always environmentally friendly. If I remember right they use hexane in the processing.

Gotcha. Good thing I was reading the "don't use local lard use palm oil for vegans" thread right before this one :p

Oh but I still do coz I can't find it still lol
At the top of the page there is a person looking icon - click on that - then there is a list of a bunch of different options - go to signature, click on that, then put in your saying, and then click save.

HTH - mine you will see is a line from a Queen song.

No need to feel stupid. Now you know. :)
Well said. @Dawni FYI: The difference between stupid and ignorance is that ignorance can be corrected. (Author unknown)
...changing my standard recipe from Sunflower oil to Canola Oil..
Um, is olive oil unavailable in Joburg? In any case, whether Sunflower or Canola, try to find High Oleic for longer shelf life. Or just go with olive oil which, to my mind at least, is better than the other two because it has the unique ability to bring other fats into saponification. But. I do use HO Sunflower for herbal infusions and quite like it.

BTW, Canola was one of the first GMO products to hit the market. It is genetically modified from several rapeseed varieties native to Canada to produce low acidic (better tasting) cooking oil. CANada Oil Low Acid.
