Hi,

I'm curious if anyone could give a tip on a good place to start with learning about mineral make-up ... primarily face powder or light-colored shadows. For a beginner, it would be nice to find a supplier that caters to the "first-time small order" ... any tips would be appreciated!

Thanks All,

I will be checking these out, along with some other resources I think I may have found ... I've got some studying to do. I haven't done mineral face powders before, but it sounds very interesting to me. I read that the mineral face powders are more absorbent than traditional ones, amongst other benefits, so I'm really curious.

I tried to study some of the ingredients today, and I think I may be able to pick up some of them at suppliers I already purchase from ... I just need to get familiar with what I need to get!

For instance ... this was one list of "stuff" I saw that I would possibly need to acquire ... give or take some other ingredients, based on whatever recipe I decide to experiment first.

Titanium Dioxide, Mica, Iron Oxides, Tapioca Starch, Cornstarch, Arrowroot Powder, Kaolin Clay, Zinc Oxide

And, there are some ingredients I need to learn more about ... I read some good things about Magnesium Stearate, for instance, and rice powder (or starch, if that's the same thing).

I can tell it might take me some time to get this new project in order though! I saw some nice jars and brushes, but there are many decisions to make, as I would be sampling first before placing a larger order (for resale).

Would you say that loose face powder in always packaged in a sifter jar?

Just curious ... it seems as though that's the only way I ever seem to see it marketed.

Thanks again,
Kathy

You are right on with you ingredients and as far as sifter go, yest sifters are a definite plus. Without them the powder seems to go everywhere!
