Microdermabrasion crystals

Hi has anyone heard of adding microderm crystals ( aluminum oxide crystals) to cp soap? is it safe? Please if anyone has any advice would be much appreciated

No, aluminum reacts badly to lye. If you want a lightly gritty soap, use extra fine pumice powder.

Metallic aluminum is a no-no with lye, but aluminum oxide is probably fine. Pumice is going to be composed of aluminosillicates and oxides along with other stuff.

Never used it myself, though, so don't take this as affirmative advice.

Aluminum oxide is also used in sandpaper, sand blasting media, and heat sink compound. It's pretty inert, I don't think you'd have trouble with lye. Make sure your get a fine enough grade of oxide, I wouldn't want sand paper soap
