Does anyone make or use "micelle water" for facial cleansing as a leave-on product? I just heard the term today, someone on Twitter from the UK was saying that they made it with 50/50 glycerin and water, with a few drops of an oil added. I was wondering if that is approximately the formula for what is sold as micelle water commercially. And if so, would a little polysorbate 20, a preservative, and some hydrosol or aloe vera make nice additions? Anybody?

It sounds plausible to me! RoyaltySoaps on youtube recently did a video comparing the Garnier brand to a kit to make it at home from Wholesale Supplies Plus

My understanding of what micellar water is -- At its simplest, it is a solution of mostly water with sufficient amounts of a mild surfactant. It can also contain small amounts of humectants, oils, and other ingredients.

If there is no or not enough surfactant in the mixture to form micelles, which are bundles of surfactant molecules, it's by definition not micellar water as I understand it.

A 50:50 mix of water and glycerin with a few drops of oil might be nice on the skin. But it's not micellar water.
