They don’t have a shimmer once they are in the soap. I suppose they’d have a shimmer if you used them on the tips of the soap though

I haven't used to many micas but do they all have a kinda shimmer to them?
From my experience they do not have a shimmer at all. They look really shimmery in the package but in the soaps they will be the true color. I love using Mica because it doesn't take much to color your soap. I use the cold process method.

I have used a few in HP and they came out nice but faded looking--they seem better in CP

I have lightly dusted the tops of a couple different batches and yes they are shimmery on top

I love micas. I can’t get enough of them. I like to use mica drizzles on the tops of my soaps and there they are sparkly! Plus they are super easy to blend in. I’m also a mixed media gal so give me colors and glitter and I’m happy. Other applications that I haven’t gotten into yet with micas are coloring lip products and makeup. Probably going to see what I can use at Halloween this year with some of my paper crafting stencils. Always check with where you bought your micas for safety issues because some cannot be used in bath bombs and some cannot be used on lips etc. oh and if you ever want to do some resin work, MICAS! A crafters best friend.

Can you tell me where you get your mica? I got some from amazon, and it took a veritable sh$tload to get color!

I seem to get more color from micah in CP than the one HP I've done which came out very bland. But I'm new to all of this. My colors used to only be from spices I put in my CP. Branching out now

Nurture Soap Supplies mostly. Mad Micas are good, but since they stopped selling fragrance oils I only order from them about once a year, if that. Micas and More is a FB group with a prebuy once a month. Bramble Berry and Rustic Escentuals also have reliable micas.

Wow, you all are a fount of information. Thanks. I've only gotten mica samples from Amazon as I'm just figuring out what I like. Do you mix your micas in oil, water, first or into your mix after trace?

I mix with sunflower oil and add after I reach emulsion since I usually split my batter for different colors. If doing a single color soap, I would just mix it in with everything else. When I mix my micas with oil, I only use enough to just get the mica pourable so as not to add too much extra oil to the batter. Mixing with water also works, and many people just stick blend dry mica into the batter.

Oh, that makes sense. I had dry blended into soap batter. But I think I may get a more certain incorporation by using it earlier. Thank you.

Micas are super shimmery in clear M&P . You can mix them well for solid colour and shimmer or mix less well for swirls. My latest lard soaps have M&P embeds... A bunch of shimmer in what otherwise kind of looks like lard. ☺️
