Can anyone tell me if meadowfoam oil is comedogenic? I have found lists of ingredients and their comedogenic ratings but many oils aren't included. I have heard that it is similar to jojoba but I'm not sure if it shares this property.

I see why you're having trouble finding out about this one. This site:

http://www.eclogiteskincare.com/blog/?p=24

claims it is, but that site also claims Grapeseed Oil is and according to Nature's Gift, grapeseed is not. Conflicting info. I need to do some price comparisons anyway, so I'll holler if I find anything more definitive.

So far I can't find anything on whether it has a com rating, but I did find a whole bunch of inaccurate info on everything else. One sight that was especially vocal on the comedogenic properties of oils claimed not to be even stated that coconut oil was unsaturated. Geez.

I think it's something you have to try for yourself. Many oils that are comedogenic are tolerated by most people. Info sources do seem to agree that Meadowfoam is a light oil and easily absorbed, as well as having the antioxidant benefit. Sorry I couldn't find anything more definitive. Anyone else?

I checked a half dozen sites that give oil descriptions, since I have never found it on a comedogenice list, and had no luck. Maybe a cosmetic ingredients dictionary? I had one about 15 years ago, it was just a paperback book I bought.

Thanks for the responses. Like I said, I was actually thinking about substituting it for jojoba but I think at the moment it is not much cheaper if at all anyway :/
I also understand it's very easily renewable which also appeals to me.
I wonder why it's so hard to find good info....hhmmm.

Yeah- I couldn't find much either, except for conflicting info. For example, I ran into an acne forum that said to avoid it, while another site reported using meadowfoam in their anti-acne facial cream. Anyway- nothing scientifically substantial- just anecdotes.

At any rate, I love meadowfoam seed oil. I don't soap with it since it is much too dear for my budget to do so, but it's my go-to oil in my body butter formula, and also in some of my lotion and lip balm formulas. This is purely anecdotal, but it has never caused any acne breakouts on me.
