Several weeks ago I found out I was getting a bonus at work. One of the very first thoughts I had was to treat myself to some soaping supplies. I wanted to purchase a luxury butter and I had narrowed it down to cocoa, shea, and mango. After a lot of deliberation and mind wrestling I decided I would get mango butter. I also decided that I would purchase from WSP because the price on mango butter was the lowest I could find (unless I was purchasing in bulk). Of course I also had to pick out a few fragrances and colors so it would be over $30 for free shipping.

Now the big day has come, my bonus came through today (yeah!). So very excitedly I signed up for an account and was about to get busy ordering. Ugghhhhhhhh mango butter is out of stock!! So my dilemma is do I wait for mango butter to be back in stock again or should I try one of the other butters out? If you use cocoa, shea or mango butter why do you like it (or dislike it)? I am not worried about allergies since this is just for personal use.

Awe that's too bad!! :(
I have all three and used them all in soaps. I know on here a lot use Shea and cocoa butter.. I don't see mango as much but I love it. Use it in my creams and lotion items also.
I would offer send u a bag through eBay or something but WSP has free ship. Gotta go there. I've got like 20 of their 5 lb bags of mango. Yes I use a lot.
But really Shea and cocoa butter are awesome.. You can never go wrong with those. I say grab cocoa butter. But that's just me. I love my bars so far with it.

Click the 'email me when back in stock' button and they'll send you an email when its back in. They always seem to get their stock replenished sooner than the date shown on their site. But if you've never used shea or cocoa butter you could always buy one of those for now and get mango next time you can afford it.

I did check the prices of mango butter on thesage.com and WSP is cheaper. The cheapest I found was soapers choice but I would not use 10 lbs before it expired. Thank you Kazmi - I didn't even notice the e-mail me button!

I have read that cocoa butter leaves a protective film on your skin. Do you find the same to be true for soap made from cocoa butter?

The few times I made soap with refine cocoa I did notice a moisturizing quality to it. I just made my first soap with unrefined cocoa butter but I haven't used it yet. So I don't know yet about the feel of it. But I think with any butter you will feel a protective 'film' which is one of the reasons a butter is used in soapmaking.

I've used shea, cocoa and mango butters by themselves, in different combinations, and all three in one soap! My favorite by far is my recipe with only mango butter...I'm waiting on WSP to get it back in stock as well!! It's worth the wait :)
