making liquid soap using shredded cp bars

Has anyone ever made liquid soap using shredded cold process bars? How did it work? Did it get thick and stay thick or did it seperate?

I have many many bars of cp soaps that I have purchased over the years and I need to do something with some of them as Im worried that the oils may go rancid. I have always tried to purchase all natural soap and scented with essential oils. Because of my dry skin I mostly purchase soap which is rich in moisturizing creams and butters. But I have a few bars that was scented with Lemongrass and it seems to be very drying. I would like to use this soap to shred and make liquid soap. Any one have a simple recipe. Thanks

If you want to wash yourself with snot, go for it .

In all seriousness, liquid soap is a different process than CP soap, and uses KOH instead of NaOH.

agree, horrid slimy snotty stuff, i wound up throwing all of my experiments out. it seemed like a great idea at the time

As I said in a previous post about it: I thought it was something good, but it's snot. Was a fun experiment but just too gross!

I do this with my scraps and waste cuts, about half soap and half water in a little squeeze bottle. Yes, it's a little slimy, but not any more than a commercial liquid hand soap. I use it as hand soap at the kitchen sink only. I wouldn't try to sell it, nor would I bathe with it.

But really, it's snot that bad... do a really small batch and decide for yourself.

You will need a preservative.

And to those who say they have never used one and their soap is fine, I challenge you to prove it. In a murky slime, how are you going to recognize the visual or textural aspects of a soap gone bad? And what about the bacteria that don't cause hair or slime and so no real clues?
